The book consists of four Parts:

- Visual Simulation Environment - How to use the Simulator and develop new simulation entities
- Visual Programming Language (VPL) - Programming using Dataflow Diagrams
- Using Real Robotics Hardware - Controlling wheeled robots and a robotic arm, as well as writing new hardware services

All of the services developed in the book are described in the DSS Service Description Directory. This novel approach means that the Contract Identifiers for all the services have actual pages on the Internet.
